Von der pr. T7 wurden 467 Stück gebaut und von der Preußischen Staatsbahn eingesetzt. Ihr Einsatzgebiet war im schweren Verschubdienst, sowie auf Anschluss-und Zechenbahnen. Die Lokomotive war aber auch auf der Berliner Ringbahn zu finden. Ebenfalls kauften viele Privatbahnen die zu ihrer Zeit zugkräftige Maschine.
